In a lot of jurisdictions the time between mid-December and mid-January is a time when officers, new and old, are appointed, elected, and installed to start the new Masonic year.
It's a time of new beginnings, even if all the officers are the same.
Everyone in the Lodge looks forward to what the new year will bring. There are plans that have been laid, ambitions are high, and there's a ton of positive energy.
For me, I'm looking forward to continuing on in my appointed offices and seeing how I can improve in both. I'm also looking forward to see how the new Junior Deacon does - he's my son and I had the privilege of installing him this past weekend. I know he's up for the challenge and seeing him start the same journey I've already completed gives a certain amount of pride in seeing the family traditions continue (my father was also a Lodge officer).
To all those that are starting their journeys, whether it is going through their degrees, or through the officer line of your Lodge, I wish you the best for this new beginning and may the journey be an enjoyable one.
